You get the feeling, when tasting (or better still *drinking*) these Ochota Barrels wines that they are ‘fine wines’ but with an edge. That is, they feel and taste good, are still kind of classic, but have a slightly wild, personality-laden delivery.
Pears poached in clove and cinnamon, smoke and struck match, honey nougat and porridge. It’s fresh and tighter than the you’d expect, with tinned grapefruit acidity and flavour, a nutty and mealy texture, and a fresh gently tannic finish of impeccable length. Fine wine, with an extra dimension of interest and personality.
