Allies 'Assemblage' Pinot Noir, 2019 Mornington Peninsula, Victoria
They’ve got a bit of magic dust going on down at Allies wines it would seem.
Just about everything they touch seems to turn to gold. This is a fantastic pinot noir. It’s tense, taut and complex, which is a good start, but the fruit is ripe, the texture is satiny, and the finish is long. I’m not going to go into “descriptors” because there’s no point and they’re boring anyway. It’s regional, varietal, and tip top, and that’s all there is to it. Words by Campbell Mattinson.
