Henk has a nice sort of familiarity to it as a name. Like someone who comes around and helps fix stuff, because you’re a bit useless at doing such things yourself. I wish I had a Henk.
So friendly and approachable, it’s a warm hug of a Chardonnay, and one that’ll surely melt the coolest of hearts. Lime, white peach, vanilla laced oatmeal, spice and a tiny amount of matchstick. It’s glossy and mellifluous, running smoothly and calmly from front to back, yet still has enough fine acidity and flinty texture to keep it on the straight and narrow. Finish is especially long and lovely, vanilla and lime with a fine chalk dust climax. Delightful.

It's no coincidence that all three of the Oakridge Vineyard Series Chardonnays come from the Upper Yarra - it is higher and cooler, and was the perfect place for the very warm vintage. The bouquet is slightly richer than Barkala and Hazeldene, and the palate follows suit. Drink this first (although there's no hurry).
